Flowers, certificate and congratulations on the special day in Rüsselsheim
With a colorful bouquet of flowers, a personalized certificate, and the best wishes of the district council, First Deputy District Administrator Adil Oyan congratulated Anneliese Mensing of Rüsselsheim on her 100th birthday. The centenarian celebrated on September 30, 2025, at Haus Am Ostpark, surrounded by family, friends, and acquaintances.
“It’s wonderful that you’re still so fit,” praised Oyan, who also conveyed greetings from District Administrator Thomas Will. Anneliese Mensing was born in Landsberg/Warthe, in what is now Poland. After the war, she initially found a new home in the Allgäu region, and later in Lower Saxony, where she met her husband, Fritz. In 1961, the family, with their two children, moved to Rüsselsheim, where her husband worked for Opel.
A fulfilling life in Rüsselsheim
Skilled with her hands, Mensing earned extra money by knitting and working at a mangle. She lived in a high-rise building for over 40 years, which became her home thanks to her good neighbors. "Everyone helped each other, it worked out well," she recalls.
A year ago, she moved into a retirement home, where, despite minor walking difficulties, she gets around safely with her walker. Her mental sharpness, the support of her family, and especially her great-grandchildren Felix and Carlotta keep her active. "Everyone is very kind to me; I'm completely content," says Mensing. She looks back with humor and serenity: "Life has been good to me overall—and now I'm already 100."
Thanks and congratulations from the district
“Special thanks go to everyone who congratulated her and celebrated with us today,” emphasized Oyan. “The district administration wishes the honoree continued health, happiness, and many carefree moments with her loved ones.”
