The German Red Cross (DRK) in Darmstadt is training with the fire department, the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW), and rescue services for disaster relief.
Darmstadt-Arheilgen. Around 300 emergency personnel , including 250 volunteers disaster relief drills on October 25th at an industrial site in Darmstadt-Arheilgen . The large-scale exercise was organized by the city of Darmstadt and the Darmstadt-Dieburg district . The aim was to test procedures, optimize cooperation between aid organizations, and assess operational readiness under realistic conditions.
Participating in the exercise were the German Red Cross (DRK) Darmstadt emergency response teams , fire departments, the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) Observers from the German Armed Forces , the city, and the district also
Scenario 1: Hazardous materials accident involving a public bus
In the first exercise scenario, a public bus collided with a hazardous materials transport vehicle , causing chemical substances to leak. The fire department and German Red Cross (DRK) set up a decontamination station , consisting of specialized containers and tents, to clean, provide medical care, and look after contaminated individuals. Scenario 2: Mass casualty incident
In the second scenario, a major incident with 80 injured people simulated. The Federal Medical Task Force 37 (MTF 37) treatment area with several fully equipped tents, designed to care for up to 50 people. This standardized unit is regularly tested and trained Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Relief (BBK)

Alexander Belloff praised the efforts of all involved:

The emergency response teams of the German Red Cross (DRK) Arheilgen, Darmstadt-Mitte, Eberstadt and other local associations from the district – including Erzhausen and Dieburg – actively participated in medical, care and catering operations.
