“One more item” campaign in front of the supermarket a complete success
On Saturday (August 9), the Leo Club Darmstadt and the Lions Darmstadt-Castrum set a strong example of solidarity with a fundraising event in front of the tegut supermarket on Kasinostraße. Under the motto "One More Item," volunteers asked customers to add an extra item—such as pasta, canned stews, or hygiene products—to their carts and then donate it to the Darmstadt tea room.
The results were impressive: boxes of non-perishable food and hygiene products were collected throughout the day and brought to the tea room that evening. The visitors were delighted. The Diakonie facility is an important contact point for homeless people and offers counseling, hot meals, washing and showering facilities, and social support at the tea room .
"We are thrilled by how many Darmstadt residents spontaneously participated. This shows that the sense of community is alive and well in our city," said the organizers.
