“neue.tonkunst.darmstadt” presents contemporary music, young talents and international guests
The Darmstadt Academy of Music presents its spring 2025 program and invites you to a new concert series entitled "neue.tonkunst.darmstadt" (new.music.darmstadt) . The platform brings together current music productions, creative emerging talents, and renowned artists. The program includes concerts, world premieres, promenade concerts, and collaborations with cultural partners in the city. Many events are free or operate on a "pay what you want" basis.

Thursday, April 24, 7 p.m.
“Rosary Responses” – World Premieres and Biber.
In the Wilhelm Petersen Hall, Baroque sound art meets new compositions. Violin students present works created in dialogue with Heinrich Biber’s Rosary Sonatas. Performers: Rüdiger Lotter (violin) and Sabine Bauer (harpsichord/organ).
Wednesday, April 30, 7 p.m.
Broken Frames Syndicate – Concert & Miniatures.
The award-winning Frankfurt ensemble returns to Darmstadt. In addition to contemporary ensemble music, the program includes miniatures by composition students.

Friday, May 2, 8 p.m. (doors open at 7 p.m.)
Promenade Concert: Rosary Responses at the Kunsthalle Darmstadt.
In cooperation with the Kunsthalle as part of "First Friday". Early music and contemporary response compositions in dialogue with current art.

Ensemble PHORMINX – New Music from Darmstadt
. The ensemble presents current works in collaboration with the Academy.

. Students present a diverse program ranging from Baroque to contemporary music.

stARTfestival 2025 – Chamber music with young soloists.
With Anush Hovhannisyan (soprano), Tobias Feldmann (violin), Benedict Kloeckner (cello), and Alexander Krichel (piano). Works by Shostakovich, Sviridov, and Braun.

Friday, June 6, 8 p.m. (doors open at 7 p.m.)
First Friday: Guitar Heroes at the Kunsthalle Darmstadt.
An evening concert featuring Bach, Brouwer, and contemporary guitar music – performed by students from the classes of Flowers and Hoppstock.
Free admission.

The concert platform neue.tonkunst.darmstadt stands for contemporary musical expression, innovative concert formats, and interdisciplinary exchange. It is organized by the Academy of Music in cooperation with regional and international partners and is aimed at a broad audience.
About the Darmstadt Academy of Music
The Darmstadt Municipal Academy was founded in 1851 and is one of Germany's most prestigious music education institutions. It unites the professional academy for music professions and the municipal music school under one roof. The renowned Wilhelm Petersen Hall is a central venue for concerts and music education in Darmstadt. Thomas E. Bauer has been the director of the institution since 2021.
