An alliance of trade unions, social associations and civil society groups invites you to Luisenplatz on August 22nd
An alliance of trade unions, social organizations, and civil society groups is calling for a day of action against social welfare cuts at Luisenplatz in Darmstadt. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., participants will be providing information about planned savings and reforms in the social and healthcare sectors.
According to the alliance, the day of action was prompted, among other things, by planned cuts to child, youth, and integration services, which were announced in March. The organizers also criticize reform and austerity plans in other areas of the welfare state, including the pension system, workers' rights, healthcare, and long-term care.
Day of action against social cuts at Luisenplatz
The alliance warns that cuts in social services could restrict the life chances and development opportunities of those directly affected. Furthermore, it sees a risk of increasing social polarization and a decline in solidarity.
The participating organizations state that the day of action aims to advocate for the preservation of key components of the welfare state. Information booths and interactive activities are planned for Luisenplatz. Interviews and speeches will provide insights into the affected areas.
