Focus on citizen participation – a varied program for all generations
Griesheim. Under the motto "Mit(te) gemacht!" (Made with us!), the city of Griesheim invites to a major day of action around the city center Saturday, August 9, 2025 , from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Georg-Schüler-Anlage , Georg-Schüler-Platz , and the Georg-August-Zinn-Haus "Sustainable City Centers and Centres," which has been running since 2022 .
The focus is on the evaluation of a broad-based citizen participation process in which the Griesheim residents were actively involved in the development of their city center. "We want people to feel comfortable in the city center – that's why we worked together to develop concrete measures," says Anouk Kaltenbach from the Citizen Participation Coordination Office. A total of 40 measures were evaluated online, the results of which are now being presented publicly.
Music, participatory activities and workshops
The program begins with the opening by Mayor Geza Krebs-Wetzl and a musical opening by the Griesheim brass band at 11:15 a.m. on the Georg-Schüler-Anlage.
Visitors to the Georg-August-Zinn-Haus
- an exhibition for online participation with project presentations from 12 noon every hour by Theresa Lotichius (Wer Denkt Was GmbH),
- a video with the most important project milestones,
- the exhibition of a photo project by young people from Griesheim ,
- a painting corner for children with Griesheim motifs.
Outside on the Georg-Schüler-Anlage, activities provide exercise and fun:
- a large inflatable slide ,
- a football artist with workshop ,
- and face painting for children .
The neighboring Georg-Schüler-Platz focuses on creative and sustainable topics. Visitors can:

- about the planned “climate quarter” ,
- as well as enjoy grilled specialties and drinks
The city of Griesheim invites all citizens to inform themselves, to participate and to experience the city center as a lively place for participation.
