Citizen participation in focus – a diverse program for all generations
Griesheim. Under the motto "Music in the Center!", the city of Griesheim invites everyone to a large-scale event around the city center Saturday, August 9, 2025 , from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Georg-Schüler-Anlage , Georg-Schüler-Platz , and the Georg-August-Zinn-Haus "Sustainable City Centers and Town Centers," which has been running since 2022 .
The focus is on the evaluation of a broad-based citizen participation process in which the residents of Griesheim were actively involved in the development of their town center. "People should feel comfortable in the town center – that's why we developed concrete measures together," said Anouk Kaltenbach from the Citizen Participation Coordination Office. A total of 40 measures were evaluated online, and the results are now being presented to the public.
Music, interactive activities and workshops
The program begins with the opening by Mayor Geza Krebs-Wetzl and a musical prelude by the Griesheim brass band at 11:15 am at the Georg-Schüler-Anlage.
Visitors to the Georg-August-Zinn-Haus
- An exhibition for online participation with project presentations starting at 12 noon, every hour on the hour, by Theresa Lotichius (Wer Denkt Was GmbH),
- a video highlighting the most important project milestones,
- the exhibition of a photo project by Griesheim youth ,
- A children's painting corner with Griesheim motifs.
Outside at the Georg-Schüler-Anlage, there are interactive activities to get you moving and having fun:
- a large inflatable slide ,
- a football artist with a workshop ,
- as well as face painting .
at the adjacent Georg-Schüler-Platz is on creative and sustainable themes. Visitors can:
- wreaths in the Green Room
- about the planned “climate district” ,
- and grilled specialties and drinks .
The city of Griesheim invites all citizens to find out more, to participate and to experience the city center as a vibrant place of participation.
