Events and information about childcare, family and youth services in CityLab, Herrngarten and Eberstadt
The Youth Welfare Office of the City of Darmstadt is organizing an action week with a diverse program in the city center and the Eberstadt district from May 12th to 16th, 2025. The occasion is three important awareness days: Childcare Day (May 12th), International Day of Families (May 15th), and the nationwide Child Day Care Action Week.
The focus is on conversations and encounters with children, young people, parents, professionals, and childminders. The events will take place at various locations, including the CityLab at Wilhelminenstraße 25 and the Herrngarten on May 14th. Additionally, a family information day is planned for May 16th at the Evangelical Church of Darmstadt-Eberstadt-Süd, Stresemannstraße 1.
Mayor Barbara Akdeniz will officially launch the event on Monday, May 12th, at 12 noon in the CityLab. She emphasizes: "This week, we want to draw attention to the important work of the Youth Welfare Office and the achievements of the professionals and childminders – and also express our appreciation."
Diverse range of products and personal advice
During the week of activities, staff from the youth welfare office will be available for discussions, questions, and suggestions. In addition to information booths, a diverse program of events will be offered: hands-on activities, games, waffle baking, a family picnic, film screenings, and information on family education.
The family information day on May 16th in Eberstadt offers specific advice on financial support services such as child supplement, maintenance advance, housing benefit, participation card, education and participation package and early help services.
“There are many services that can relieve the burden on families – unfortunately, they are still not well enough known,” said Akdeniz. “The events offer a good opportunity to receive individual and uncomplicated advice.”
