Festively decorated windows shine daily during the Advent season.
The Riedstadt town hall is once again being transformed into a giant Advent calendar this year. On Monday evening, December 1st, the first festively decorated window was illuminated – thus marking the start of a now cherished tradition.
The idea originated during the first winter of the pandemic, when the living Advent calendar of the Protestant parish of Goddelau had to be cancelled due to the pandemic. What began as a substitute has since become an established part of the pre-Christmas season in Riedstadt.
The 24 Advent windows were once again designed by numerous institutions and organizations from Riedstadt, including many children and several daycare centers from the town. The windows are distributed across the front and back of the town hall, allowing visitors to search for the illuminated numbers, just like with a traditional Advent calendar.
Energy-saving LED lights are used for illumination. To save energy, each window is illuminated daily until 9:30 p.m.
