Chamber choir presents Britten's "A Ceremony of Carols" and works for male choir in St. Ludwig.
Advent music between medieval sounds and modern choral art
As the Darmstadt Music Society announces, the Chamber Choir invites you to its annual Advent concert on Sunday, December 21, at 4 p.m. in St. Ludwig Church. The program features Benjamin Britten's A Ceremony of Carols for three-part women's choir and harp. The composition combines old English Christmas texts with a musical language that unites medieval influences, rhythmic precision, and great expressiveness.
Men's choir pieces complement the program
Britten's work is juxtaposed with Advent and Christmas carols for male choir, which, in their own distinctive tonal colors, convey the anticipation, reflection, and joy of the Christmas season. The Darmstadt Music Society's chamber choir will be accompanied by harpist Natascha Ziegler. Thomas Höpp will conduct.
Concert on December 21st in St. Ludwig
The Advent concert will take place on December 21, 2025, at 4 p.m. in St. Ludwig Church in Darmstadt. Further information is available on the music association's website:
