Including the playing area for all generations inaugurated - financing through state funding
In bright sunshine and with around 80 guests, the extensively redesigned adventure playground Haydnstraße in Weiterstadt has been reopened. Mayor Ralf Möller welcomed the visitors to the ceremonial opening together with representatives from urban politics and administration as well as a school class of the Anna-Freud school-with a special thank you in the form of a ball of ice cream from the specially committed ice wagon.
Including play and meeting area on 3,753 square meters
The redesign of the 3,753 square meter area took around ten weeks. The costs of 294,000 euros were fully covered by the "Regional Load Compensation" funding program of the State of Hesse . Due to the extreme drought in spring, only the growth of the lawns was delayed - all other construction phases were scheduled.
The new play area convinces with an inclusive overall concept:
- Three barrier -free entrances
- Three different swing systems with barrier -free access
- Generous climbing complex with 6 meters high tower, bridges and ropes
- Two slides differently high
- 20 meter long double lane
- 110 meters of barrier -free paths with control systems
- Numerous wheelchair -accessible seats
- Open pavilion for encounter and cross -generational exchange
Participation of schools and citizens
The entire planning process was participatory and inclusive . Disabled associations, schools and urban institutions brought valuable impulses in the early planning phase . The feedback from a public workshop flowed directly into the final plank concept.
Anna Freud School was particularly committed , which brought his own ideas as part of a social space exploration. City of the Future ” project of the Albrecht-Dürer School also provided suggestions-such as the construction of the pavilion as a meeting point for young and old.
Outlook: Third construction phase in planning
In a planned third construction phase, the toddler play area is to be expanded , additional greening is planted and shading options are created. The aim is to further expand the playground as an inclusive meeting point for all generations in Weiterstadt .
