Outstanding performance at the World Music Festival – seventh place in international competition
The 1st Orchestra of Akkordia '73 Crumstadt eV impressed with great musical commitment at the 14th World Music Festival in Innsbruck. In the category "Accordion Orchestra – Adults – Advanced Level 1," the orchestra achieved a remarkable seventh place among 24 international participants from May 29th to June 1st, 2025. The jury awarded the performance the highest distinction of "excellent" (41.75 points).
Under the direction of conductor Marc Fischer, the musicians presented a demanding program consisting of the movement “Dione” from the work “Die Monde des Saturn” by Stefan Hippe and the world premiere of the “Büchner Variations” by Ian Watson – a tribute to Georg Büchner and Riedstadt composed especially for the 50th anniversary of the Akkordia.
The orchestra consisted of 26 players and two percussionists. The participation of three talented young musicians from the orchestra's own youth orchestra, as well as guest musicians from affiliated ensembles, was particularly gratifying.
Besides the musical success, the trip was also a shared experience. The successful performance was driven by team spirit, a positive atmosphere, and the commitment of everyone involved. As the highest-placed orchestra from the region, the ensemble made a musical statement.
The association thanks all supporters – especially composer Ian Watson for the inspiring collaboration.
