A youth musical about progress, environmental protection, and social conflicts
The youth musical "WORST CASE II – Alma's Dream" by Christian and Katharina Roß will be performed at 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, and Sunday, September 27, in the Darmstadt City Church. The musical focuses on the conflict surrounding a planned semiconductor factory and the question of how economic progress, jobs, and environmental protection can be reconciled.
The story revolves around a large industrial project intended to secure a city's economic future. However, the planned factory would require the clearing of forests and fields. As proponents and opponents of the project become increasingly irreconcilable, two teenagers find themselves caught in the crossfire.
“Alma’s Dream” is looking for a way out
The plot takes a new turn when Alma has a dream, which gives rise to an idea that could change the entrenched conflict. The youth musical explores how young people react to social conflicts and the role that courage, creativity, and solidarity can play.
The cast includes the choir of the Darmstadt Singing School and a musical orchestra. Franca Blauert directs, and Christian Roß is the musical director.
