Amprion reinforces power line between Urberach and Weinheim / Measures coordinated with city and nature conservation authority
The transmission system operator Amprion has begun preparatory construction work in the Darmstadt districts of Arheilgen and Wixhausen to modernize the electricity infrastructure. The work is being carried out in close coordination with the City of Darmstadt and includes, among other things, the replacement of conductor cables and insulators on the existing power pylons.
These measures are part of a larger infrastructure project on the 27-kilometer section of the power line between Urberach and Griesheim . The goal is to increase the transmission capacity of the power line to meet the growing energy demand in the region. The appearance of the pylons in the affected section will remain unchanged.
Expansion to 380 kilovolts planned
As part of the project, a 220-kilovolt power line will be upgraded to 380 kilovolts new pylons are also planned for other sections of the route .
- Between Griesheim and Pfungstadt, 23 new masts will be erected along a 7.5-kilometer stretch . One existing mast will be replaced in the process.
- In the section from Pfungstadt to Weinheim, will be replaced by 88 new ones . The new supports will be built within the existing route to improve parallel alignment.
Environmentally friendly and coordinated
The project is being implemented in coordination with the Lower Nature Conservation Authority of the City of Darmstadt . The aim is to minimize the impact on nature and the surrounding area while simultaneously improving the region's long-term security of supply
The new power line is scheduled to go into operation at the end of 2025. During the construction phase, there may be temporary construction traffic and disruptions . Amprion asks for your understanding and thanks the residents for their patience.
