An event on July 2nd with Dr. Frank Velte will highlight animal characters from the world of stories.
The Vivarium Zoo invites you to a special evening tour entitled "Animals from Legends, Fables, and Fairy Tales" . The tour explores the symbolic meaning of animals in human narratives, combining zoological knowledge with cultural and historical context.
Animals in literature have always been more than just biological beings – they embody qualities, assume roles, and shape moral concepts. Dr. Frank Velte explores questions such as: What's wrong with Harry Potter's snowy owl? Why was the queen of the birds dethroned? And why do snakes sometimes represent evil and sometimes good?
Using the animal population in the Vivarium Zoo as an example, Velte shows how cultural attributions arose and what influence they still have on our image of animals today.
The meeting point is at the zoo entrance. Regular admission prices apply. Advance registration by phone is required. 06151 13-46900.
