Chalk drawing event, interviews and self-defense courses for girls on June 13th and 14th
On Friday, June 13, 2025 , the city of Riedstadt will once again participate in the nationwide Anti-Catcall Day . Starting at 11:30 a.m. , the Women's and Equal Opportunities Officer, Jennifer Muth, everyone to the town hall square to use colorful chalk to raise awareness about sexual harassment in public spaces . Interested individuals – especially students – can write their own experiences on the ground. The event will be complemented by interviews.
The event is being held in cooperation with the Office for Women and Equal Opportunities of the Groß-Gerau district . Simultaneous events are also planned in Groß-Gerau and Rüsselsheim. Anyone wishing to anonymously share their own experiences beforehand can send them by email to catcalls@kreistag.de – they will be made visible on the day of the event.
The term “ catcalling ” refers to forms of sexual harassment without physical contact , such as suggestive comments or whistling in public spaces.
Self-defense courses for girls
To coincide with the day of action, the women's representative for Riedstadt is offering two self-defense courses for girls aged 13 to 15. The courses will take place on the following dates:
- Saturday, June 14, 2025 , 11:00 AM–1:00 PM
- Saturday, June 28, 2025 , 11:00 AM–1:00 PM
The trainer is Catharina Bach from " selbst.sicher.stark " (self.confident.strong). The experienced Ving Tsun Kung Fu instructor shows the participants how they can stand up for themselves in difficult situations.
Participation fee: 5 euros per course.
