Fantasy novels in a historical setting on March 17, 2026 at the Hotel Rosengarten
The Literature Initiative invites you to an author reading on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, as part of the "Literary Scene of Southern Hesse" series. The event will take place in the breakfast room of the Hotel Rosengarten in Darmstadt (Frankfurter Straße 79). It begins at 7 p.m. Admission is free; donations are welcome.
Jasmin Engel and Anna C. Kalesse will present fantasy novels set in historical settings at the reading and offer insights into their latest publications. Jasmin Engel will read from her novel "Erträumt" (Realm & Rune, 2025). The novel explores lucid dreams and the power of imagination: while the protagonist struggles with everyday problems during the day, she enters mysterious liminal worlds at night.
Engel was born in Aschaffenburg in 1982 and now lives with her family in Darmstadt. Her previous publications include "The Gods of Twilight" (2020), "The Dream Traveler" (2022), and "Secrets of Time" (2024). "Dreamed" is the first volume of a duology, the second part of which is scheduled for release this year.

Anna C. Kalesse presents her debut novel, "The Sound of Falling Sand" (Realm & Rune, 2024). The story takes place in Liverpool in 2034: After the end of World War III, the protagonist finds herself in a hopeless situation caught between love and betrayal.
Kalesse was born in Offenbach in 2004 and now lives in Frankfurt. She studies urban planning and works at the Senckenberg Museum. She has been writing her own stories since elementary school.
