Rental station now in front of the KAGEL in Darmstadt
The tool lending station of the "Darmstadt im Herzen" initiative has moved. The mobile station is now located in front of KAGEL – Kaufhaus der Gelegenheiten (department store of opportunities) at Pallaswiesenstraße 122 in Darmstadt.
Registered users of the "Darmstadt im Herzen" app can borrow tools for small and large DIY projects free of charge. The aim of the service is to conserve resources and promote community sharing.
Sharing instead of buying
The initiative was launched by HEAG. According to those in charge, the service was already being used extensively at its previous location in the Lincoln settlement. The pilot project has shown that sharing concepts also work in everyday life in the areas of crafts and DIY.
The new location in front of KAGEL is intended to further strengthen the concept of reuse. The non-profit department store focuses on passing on used goods instead of throwing them away, thus complementing the sharing economy.
Part of the DELTA funding project
The rental station was established as part of the "Darmstadt Energy Laboratory for Applied Technologies (DELTA)" funding project. The project is supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. In addition to HEAG, the Technical University of Darmstadt, Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, and the City of Darmstadt are also involved. The use of the rental station is being scientifically monitored.
