Road safety works to be completed by the end of November
Darmstadt/Dieburg. on the B26 federal highway between Darmstadt and Dieburg to retrofit guardrails . According to Hessen Mobil , the new safety barriers are expected to road safety . Construction has already begun and is scheduled by the end of November .
Traffic restrictions
The work will be carried out as daytime construction sites , during which the hard shoulder and one lane for a length of approximately 200 meters . Traffic will be diverted via the remaining lane. On- and off-ramps to the B26 will also be temporarily affected: acceleration and deceleration lanes be closed briefly.
Increased safety through new protection systems
The aim of this measure is to reduce accidents involving collisions with obstacles , trees along the route that were previously unprotected be protected modern restraint systems
According to Hessen Mobil, the decision as to whether a protective device is required is made according to the guidelines for vehicle restraint systems . Factors such as permissible speed , lateral distance to the obstacle , and terrain height an important role in this decision.
Even trees as close as twelve meters to the road can pose a risk if a vehicle leaves the lane.
Funding by the federal government
The total cost of the project is €340,000 and is being covered by the federal government .
