Hessen Mobil sets up traffic light control for around two weeks – opening to traffic planned for the end of 2026
OBER-RAMSTADT – As part of the construction of the Ober-Ramstadt/Hahn bypass, Hessen Mobil will begin further work on the B 426 on Monday, September 29, 2025. The roadway will be widened at the level of a newly constructed retaining wall. For this purpose, the road construction authority will establish a half-side closure with traffic lights .
Traffic management during construction work
The traffic restrictions will remain in place for approximately two weeks. After that, traffic will be diverted to two lanes around the construction site. Work on the retaining wall is expected to last until early April 2026 .
Status of construction work
- The bridge structure for carrying a farm track and the new roundabout have already been completed.
- The pedestrian and cycle path bridge west of Hahn has also been completed.
- Road construction on the approximately 1.8-kilometer-long route to begin at the end of 2025.
Completion by 2027
The new bypass is scheduled to open to traffic at the end of 2026. Remaining work, such as the demolition of the old B 426, construction site preparation areas, and the construction of new farm roads, is scheduled to be completed in May 2027 .
Relief for Hahn
Every day, approximately 15,000 vehicles , including many trucks, drive through Hahn's narrow, winding town center. The bypass is intended to divert up to 90 percent of traffic from the town. A three-lane expansion of approximately 1.1 kilometers toward Darmstadt is intended to accommodate the high volume of truck traffic.
The total cost of the measure amounts to around 19 million euros , borne by the federal government.
