Hessen Mobil plans completion by the beginning of April 2026
Ober-Ramstadt/Hahn. As part of the construction of the Ober-Ramstadt/Hahn bypass, Hessen Mobil will begin work on a new retaining wall on Monday, August 18, 2025. This wall will compensate for the difference in elevation between the cutting embankment, the cycle path, and the new federal highway.
Initially, the construction site will be set up without causing major traffic disruptions. According to current plans, one-way traffic with road widening is scheduled for October. Completion of the retaining wall is planned for early April 2026.
Current status of construction work
The bridge over a farm track, the roundabout, and a pedestrian and bicycle bridge approximately 250 meters west of Hahn have already been completed. Road construction on the roughly 1.8-kilometer-long route is scheduled to begin at the end of the year.
The new B 426 is scheduled to open to traffic at the end of 2026. Following this, the old B 426 to the west and east of Hahn will be dismantled, farm tracks will be renewed, and construction site equipment will be removed. This work is expected to be completed in May 2027.
Relief for Hahn
The existing B 426 currently leads directly into the narrow village center of Hahn via a sharp bend and downhill section. Around 15,000 vehicles – including many trucks – use this route daily. Traffic jams are frequent, especially at bottlenecks.
The bypass will reduce traffic through the town by up to 90 percent. The route runs north around Hahn and reconnects to the B 426 via a roundabout at its eastern end. A 1.1-kilometer stretch of three-lane road will be constructed in the direction of Darmstadt. Two small bridges will ensure the connection to the cycle path and agricultural road network.
The total cost of the project amounts to approximately 19 million euros and is being covered by the federal government. Further information is available mobil.hessen.de
