Grüne 60+ working group wants to create seating for exchange and loneliness
More seating in public space - the Green 60+ for years. particularly on the concept of the so -called "babbelbäns" : benches that expressly invite you to exchange and conversation, especially for older people. In the city council in April it was now decided that three of the planned benches on Ernst-Ludwigs-Platz were shown as babbelbänen.
Create places against loneliness
"We have been committed to more benches in public space for a long time. They not only enable relaxation, but also promote social interaction," explains Monika Müller , representative of the Greens in the advocacy representation for the elderly. Babbelbänen could be a low -threshold place of encounter, especially for single or lonely people.
The concept goes back to an initiative from 2018 in Great Britain and is now being implemented in numerous cities - for example in Bensheim , Weinheim and Frankfurt . Darmstadt has already installed the first Babbelbänke: among other things in the Lincoln settlement , Bessungen at the Heimathaus and at the neighborhood home in the Prinz-Emil garden .
Green welcome other locations
Hildegard Förster-Heldmann , spokeswoman for the Greens in Darmstadt, emphasizes: "The previous Babbelbänen have proven themselves. They make an important contribution to the quality of life and social exchange in the district." The project fits well with the city's philosophy to create places of encounter in everyday life.
The Green 60+ working group announced that it will continue to campaign for additional seating - especially in the city center and in the districts .
