Bach Cantata Ensemble performs BWV 78 in the Trinity Church
Darmstadt – On Sunday, September 28, 2025, at 10 a.m., the Bach Cantata Ensemble Darmstadt musically accompany the service in the Evangelical Trinity Church (HL 301) with Johann Sebastian Bach’s cantata “Jesu, der du meine Seele” (BWV 78) .
The cantata deals with the theme of a person burdened by guilt, whose heart no longer receives comforting words. Hope and renewed joy in life are offered by an expressive duet for soprano and alto, which focuses on Christ and his vicarious suffering.
The ensemble features Johanna Rosskopp (soprano), Diana Schmid (alto), Erik Grevenbrock-Reinhardt (tenor), and Pedro Ometto (bass), along with the instrumentalists of the ensemble. Meike Metzger conducts.
