Bach Cantata Ensemble performs BWV 78 in the Trinity Church
Darmstadt – On Sunday, September 28, 2025, at 10 a.m., the Bach Cantata Ensemble Darmstadt the musical accompaniment for the service in the Evangelical Trinity Church (HL 301) with Johann Sebastian Bach's cantata "Jesu, der du meine Seele" (BWV 78) .
The cantata addresses the theme of the person burdened by guilt, whose heart can no longer be reached by comforting words. Hope and renewed joy in life are offered by an expressive duet for soprano and alto, which focuses attention on Christ and his vicarious suffering.
The musicians performing are Johanna Rosskopp (soprano), Diana Schmid (alto), Erik Grevenbrock-Reinhardt (tenor), and Pedro Ometto (bass), along with the ensemble's instrumentalists. The performance is conducted by Meike Metzger.
