Aleksandra and Alexander Grychtolik will present works from Graupner to Vivaldi on July 5th.
The Dotter Foundation invites you to an extraordinary concert evening on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at 6 p.m. in the Ernst-Ludwig-Saal in Darmstadt-Eberstadt. Under the title "A Baroque Opera Gala for Two Harpsichords," the renowned harpsichordists Aleksandra and Alexander Grychtolik will present a diverse program featuring works by Graupner, Rameau, Vivaldi, and Handel.
The concert includes both historical and contemporary arrangements of opera overtures, ballet music, and French dance music. Inspired by Johann Sebastian Bach's visits to the opera in Dresden, Baroque improvisations complement the evening. Baroque music—characterized by the idea of transience (vanitas)—reflects the extreme emotions of the era with dramatic turns and expressive cadences.
Aleksandra and Alexander Grychtolik are among the leading soloists in their field, combining refined precision with vibrant musicality. They are particularly dedicated to the works of Bach, his sons, and Baroque improvisation.
Advance ticket sales for the 69th Dotter Concert are underway. During the concert, donations will be collected to finance a 3D cross-sectional model of the former Eberstadt Synagogue. The virtual reconstruction is being realized in cooperation with the Technical University of Darmstadt.
