Miguel Alves Ribeiro is the central contact point for social advice and coordination
Nauheim. Since the beginning of July 2025, Miguel Alves Ribeiro has been strengthening the Nauheim municipal administration as a new BeKo specialist . The newly created position – BeKo stands for advice and coordination – complements the municipality's existing social network and is part of a district-wide initiative to improve the provision of support services to citizens in need.
"With this new specialist, we are taking an important step toward providing local social assistance in an even more targeted and accessible manner," said Mayor Marc Friedrich Sibylle Wilfer also sees the new appointment as a real asset for the administration and for Nauheim.
Goal: Social counseling from a single source – for all generations
The new position was developed in close collaboration with the Groß-Gerau district's Social Planning Department and complements existing support services such as care centers, the SAN social station, and the community nurse. As an independent contact point, Miguel Alves Ribeiro serves citizens of all generations—including seniors, refugees, and the homeless.
Through close integration with existing services locally and in the district, the BeKo office can provide individualized assistance , support with applications, and provide long-term support – including through care management . Cooperation with specialists from other municipalities and the Groß-Gerau district is essential.
Social worker with experience
Miguel Alves Ribeiro is a state-certified social worker and previously worked in family support. In his first few weeks, he has already made numerous contacts – both within the municipal administration and with external agencies. "I'm looking forward to the task and the people of Nauheim. It's important that social counseling is provided locally – accessible, trustworthy, and solution-oriented," says the new BeKo employee.
The establishment of the position is considered a forward-looking measure to meet the growing need for social counseling services in the Groß-Gerau district. Other municipalities in the district have created similar positions – in response to social changes and the increasing importance of decentralized, municipal social work.
