The Soroptimist International Club Darmstadt will combine literature and acrobatics for a good cause in Eberstadt on October 30th
A benefit reading with author Nefeli Kavouras and performances by young artists are on the program at Circus Waldoni in Darmstadt-Eberstadt on Friday, October 30, 2026. The Soroptimist International Club Darmstadt is organizing the evening to benefit the Circus Project Waldoni e.V. The event starts at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m.
The proceeds will support the work of the association, which promotes the joy of movement, creativity, social skills, and self-confidence of young people through its programs. These skills are also important foundations for violence prevention.
Nefeli Kavouras reads from her debut novel
The focus of the benefit reading is the novel "Yellow, Also a Beautiful Thought" by Nefeli Kavouras. The book was awarded the Hamburg Literature Prize even before its publication.
The novel tells the story of a mother-daughter relationship shaped by a serious illness within the family. Kavouras describes how they cope with illness, loss, and the end of life. She combines thoughtful and touching moments with humor and a direct narrative style.
The author works for the mairisch publishing house and curates the literary program of the "altonale" festival. Together with Anselm Neft, she hosts the literary podcast "laxbrunch." She also regularly moderates and organizes readings.
Young artists will accompany the benefit reading
Besides literature, the focus of the evening is on artistry. Young members of Circus Waldoni will present acrobatic performances, accompanying the reading.
The Waldoni Circus Project offers young people the opportunity to further develop their physical and creative skills. In addition to physical activity, the project also focuses on teamwork, mutual trust, and strengthening self-esteem.
During the event, homemade finger food and organic wines will also be offered. The wines are provided by DiDiVino – Bioweine Dietmar Cezanne from Darmstadt-Arheilgen, who are supporting the event.
Tickets and advance booking
Tickets for the benefit performance cost €20 with open seating. Written pre-orders can be placed via email until October 20, 2026. Tickets are also available directly from Circus Waldoni, at the bookstore on the market square, and at the flower shop "fleur-in". A box office will also be open at Circus Waldoni on the night of the performance.
