Dr. Reinhold Kittelberger will read from the historical novel "The Reinoldus Saga" on August 17th
Biebesheim am Rhein. The Biebesheim Local History Museum will reopen its doors on Sunday, August 17, 2025, after its summer break. Visitors can view the exhibitions at Rheinstraße 44 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. At 11 a.m., the Biebesheim Local History Society invites everyone to a special reading matinee with Dr. Reinhold Kittelberger.
The author, who grew up in Gernsheim, will read from his historical novel, *The Reinoldus Saga – The Sinner and the Saint* . The story takes place in the 8th century: The young knight Renaud embarks on a perilous journey to the Abbasid Caliphate, makes a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, and visits Rome before settling at the imperial estate of Gernsheim. Love, adventure, political intrigue, and historical references shape the narrative, which delves deep into the era of Charlemagne.
Dr. Kittelberger, a natural scientist with a doctorate, has lived in Wellington, New Zealand, for many years. After his retirement, he began to research and develop the figure of Saint Reinoldus in a literary way – inspired by over 80 historical accounts.
During the summer break, the museum was further expanded: A new information panel can be seen on the upper floor, and a media station on the topic of the Rhine water intake plant now complements the presentation in the Rhine exhibition room.
