Dr. Reinhold Kittelberger will read from the historical novel “The Reinoldus Saga” on August 17th
Biebesheim am Rhein. The Biebesheim Local History Museum will reopen its doors after its summer break on Sunday, August 17, 2025. Visitors can view the exhibitions at Rheinstrasse 44 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. At 11 a.m., the Biebesheim Local History and History Society invites you to a special reading matinee with Dr. Reinhold Kittelberger.
The author, who grew up in Gernsheim, reads from his historical novel The Reinoldus Saga – The Sinner and the Saint . The plot takes place in the 8th century: The young knight Renaud embarks on a perilous journey to the Abbasid Empire, makes a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, and visits Rome before settling in the Imperial Court of Gernsheim. Love, adventure, political intrigue, and historical references characterize the narrative, which delves deeply into the era of Charlemagne.
Dr. Kittelberger, who holds a doctorate in natural sciences, has lived in Wellington, New Zealand, for many years. After his retirement, he began to explore and develop the figure of Saint Reinoldus in literary form – inspired by over 80 historical narratives.
During the summer break, the museum was further expanded: a new information board is on display on the upper floor, and a media station on the Rhine water intake plant now complements the presentation in the Rhine exhibition room.
