Workshop by BUND, the Environmental Agency and the Adult Education Center on February 10th in Darmstadt
Doing more together to preserve biodiversity: The German Federation for the Environment and Nature Conservation (BUND) , the Environmental Office of the City of Darmstadt and the Darmstadt Adult Education Center (VHS) invite you to a workshop entitled “Creating and maintaining islands of biodiversity” on Wednesday, February 10, 2026, at 6:30 p.m.
This free event will feature short presentations explaining why every square meter counts – from windowsills and balconies to tree pits and private gardens. Practical ways in which private and public spaces can contribute to promoting biodiversity will be presented. The city's wildflower meadow sponsorship program, which offers support for those without their own land, will also be discussed.
Following the presentations, speaker Niko Martin and other experts will be available to answer questions. In addition, the BUND urban nature guides will offer initial brief consultations. Participants are welcome to bring photos of the areas they would like to transform into more natural spaces.
The event will take place at the BUND Center for Urban Nature at Klappacher Straße 27 in Darmstadt. Access is via the Orangerie, first gate on the left.
