Shop until 9 pm, admire ice sculptures and experience fire shows
On Friday, November 28, 2025 , City Marketing Darmstadt to Black Night Shopping in the city center under the motto "Fire & Ice." From 4:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. , visitors can expect a diverse program with ice and fire shows, walk-around acts, live music, and illuminated selfie spots . Shops in the city center will remain open 9:00 p.m. , and the Christmas market until 10:00 p.m.
"Perfect for the start of the Christmas season, the event conjures a very special atmosphere in the city," says city manager Anke Jansen . The evening is ideal for doing some early Christmas shopping, enjoying the diverse program, and then visiting the Christmas market.
Ice sculptors and fire shows on Wilhelminenstrasse
Several ice sculptors will demonstrate on Wilhelminenstrasse 4:30 p.m. Large blocks of ice will be transformed into artistic figures and imaginative sculptures. From 6:30 p.m. 8:30 p.m., several fire artists spectacular shows, taking place hourly and creating an impressive fusion of fire, dance, and ice.
Illuminated selfie spots in the city center
Whether it's luminous angel wings , light sculptures , the DA Instagram Point or the sparkling star portal in the Carree – glittering photo opportunities await visitors at numerous locations in the city center.
Walk-around acts and live music
Glittering walk-around acts bring movement to the streets: In dazzling costumes, the "ice figures" dance through the city center to atmospheric music. A mobile drum band , creating an infectious atmosphere with powerful beats without a stage or amplifiers.
Christmas market and food truck festival
The Darmstadt Christmas market invites visitors to stroll and enjoy themselves until 10 p.m. Amidst mulled wine, roasted almonds, and festive lights, visitors can begin the Advent season in a relaxed atmosphere.
The popular "Heiligs Blechle" food truck Christmas market in the square . For the ninth time, numerous regional food trucks are transforming the square into an atmospheric culinary mile with a wide variety of specialties.

- Wilhelminenstraße: €1.50 per hour / €4 flat rate after 9 pm
- Luisencenter: 5 euros (9 pm–6 am)
- City Carree: 5 euros (7 p.m. – 6 a.m.)
