City warns for caution - behavioral tips for bathers and dog owners
In the Prince of Hesse pit, there was again an increase in cyanobacteria (blue -green algae) . As the science city of Darmstadt reports, current measurements on Friday, July 4, showed that the limit value of warning level 1 of the Federal Environment Agency exceeded . The reason for this is the current weather conditions with high sunlight and little precipitation.
The city calls all visitors to consider the following behavioral tip :
- Children should not play or swim in areas where green carpets have formed on the water surface.
- Dogs should not be let into the water.
- Diving or water sports should be avoided.
- After swimming, it is recommended to shower thoroughly and change swimwear.
The corresponding signage on site has been updated .
Grünlichezernent Michael Kolmer explains:
"The infestation with blue -green algae was expected due to the weather. Although the limit value of warning level 1 is currently exceeded, this is only scarce. This shows that the measures already initiated, for example to improve the water quality.
The city points out that water quality is still regularly checked. In the event of significant changes, the citizens will be informed immediately.
The Federal Environment Agency also provides further information on the current water quality at: www.umweltbundesamt.de
