A Bob Dylan evening celebrates 50 years of "Blood On The Tracks" at Darmstadt Castle
On November 13, 2025, Americana series in Darmstadt celebrates a special anniversary: To mark the 50th anniversary of Bob Dylan's legendary album "Blood On The Tracks", the series moves for one evening from its traditional home in the Bessunger Knabenschule to the Künstlerkeller in the Residenzschloss .
Under the title "50 Years of Blood On The Tracks – An Evening with Bob Dylan, Martin Grieben, Frank Willi Schmidt and Thomas Waldherr," the audience can expect an atmospheric concert evening with music, lyrics and stories surrounding one of the singer-songwriter's most personal works. The concert begins at 8:30 p.m., doors open at 7 p.m.
Released in 1975, the album is considered one of Dylan's masterpieces—a musical reflection of an emotionally charged period in his life. "A lot of people tell me they like the album. I find it hard to understand. I mean... people like that kind of pain?" Dylan himself said about the success of his songs. The tracks tell of love, loss, and change—poetic, poetic, and timeless.
Martin Grieben, Frank Willi Schmidt, and Dylan expert Thomas Waldherr perform the work in its entirety, supplementing it with selected classics from Dylan's repertoire. An evening for lovers of handcrafted music and moving lyrics – and a special highlight in this year's Americana fall program.
