Concert evening for his 85th birthday on May 28th at the boys' school
To celebrate Bob Dylan's 85th birthday, the Darmstadt concert series "Americana" invites you to a tribute evening on Thursday, May 28, 2026, in the hall of the Bessunger Knabenschule. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m., doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Several artists will interpret songs by the music legend this evening. Among them are DanaMaria, Dan Dietrich, the Julia van Embers Band, Martin Grieben, and Richard Limbert. The concert will be complemented by a presentation and reading by Americana curator Thomas Waldherr, who will offer insights into key milestones in Dylan's work.
DanaMaria is a country singer-songwriter from the Rhine-Main region who won the German Rock & Pop Award in 2021. Her latest album, "Starstruck," was released in October 2025.
Dan Dietrich is a fixture of the Darmstadt Americana scene and has already established his own tribute format with his program "Dan plays Dylan". He also participated in the Darmstadt premiere of the Dylan biopic together with Julia van Embers.

The Julia van Embers Trio stands for finely tuned Americana sound with multi-part vocals and diverse instrumentation. Martin Grieben, a long-time fixture in the Darmstadt music scene, contributes his experience from various tribute projects. Richard Limbert, as a singer-songwriter, is deeply dedicated to the American folk tradition.

During the evening, Thomas Waldherr will also present his new book about Bob Dylan, which deals with the creative period of 1981.
