New participation options published online from March 31, 2025
The science city of Griesheim has comprehensively revised its guideline for good citizen participation. The new version was unanimously decided on February 6, 2025 by the city council and will be published on March 31 in an online version on the municipal participation platform www.griesheim-gestalten.de and on the city's website. Printed specimens are obtained from the Citizens' Participation coordination office .
Innovations simplify participation
In a multi -year evaluation process, the guideline, which was originally adopted in 2019, was fundamentally revised. The development team consisted of 12 Griesheimers as well as representatives from politics and administration. The process was accompanied by the Darmstadt participation agency "Who thinks what GmbH".
A central innovation concerns the procedure for the stimulation of participation: Instead of a list of signatures, a person's request is now sufficient to initiate an opinion picture on the respective project letter. The deadline for this was extended from three to six months, the minimum number of supporters reduced to 50. This makes it much easier to stimulate a certain project as a citizen.
Goal: stronger integration of all perspectives
Anouk Kaltenbach from the Citizens' Participation coordination office explains: "The new version of the guideline should make it easier to participate in our city. Many Griesheimers want to get involved. We have seen this again and again in recent years. Griesheim has been diverse and has many different perspectives that we want to get to know."
Background: The Griesheim guideline for citizen participation
The guideline defines binding framework for participation in Griesheim. It determines when and on which issues should be involved and is based on basic quality standards that have committed administration and politics.
The city council had already decided to create such a guideline in 2016. The first version was adopted in 2019 after an intensive participation process. With the update now available, the city is reacting to the experiences of recent years and sets a clear sign of more participation, transparency and dialogue.
