Running track, basketball court and outdoor gym are being modernized – temporary closures
Extensive renovation work will begin on the publicly accessible sports and exercise areas in Darmstadt's Bürgerpark on Monday, March 24, 2025. Darmstädter Sportstätten GmbH & Co. KG (DSG) will renew the 400-meter cinder track and carry out repairs on other sports facilities.
The running track will be renovated until Friday, March 28th. The gradient in the curves will be slightly adjusted and a new surface layer applied. During the work, the track and the grass area inside will be closed.
In addition, the basketball courts, volleyball court, outdoor gym, and other areas in the Bürgerpark will undergo a thorough cleaning. Ground surfaces will be repaired and relined. The existing volleyball system will be replaced. Due to these measures, the affected areas will be temporarily unavailable or only partially accessible.
"The sports and exercise areas in the Bürgerpark are consistently used intensively, which affects the condition of the facilities. Especially in summer, the Bürgerpark is one of the most popular places in Darmstadt. We are pleased to be able to offer citizens safe and usable sports areas again soon," explains Mayor and Head of Sports Hanno Benz.
