Last chance: Guided tours of the work of the renowned photographer
Darmstadt. The exhibition “Candida Höfer. Photographs” at the Hessian State Museum Darmstadt runs only until Sunday, August 24, 2025. With 53 works, it offers a comprehensive overview of the work of the internationally renowned artist, which has developed over more than five decades.
Candida Höfer (born 1944) is one of the best-known representatives of the Düsseldorf School of Photography, which she helped shape from 1976 onwards as a student of Bernd and Hilla Becher. Her large-format photographs of interiors, zoos, and more recent series such as "Light Bulbs" (2021) or "Trees" (2021) demonstrate her precise eye for space, structure, and atmosphere.
The exhibition, which was specially designed for the National Museum, is divided into four thematic areas: Interiors , Zoological Gardens , Light Bulbs and Trees .
Accompanying program:
- Wednesday, August 20, 6 p.m.: Public tandem tour “Zoo Architecture in Transition” with Frederik Linti (Zoo Vivarium) and Dr. Stephanie Hauschild
- Sunday, August 24, 11:15 a.m.: Public guided tour with Dr. Stephanie Hauschild
Participation fee: Admission plus 4 euros, max. 20 people. Tickets are available online or at the museum ticket office.
