Party presents content and guiding principle “Attitude, plain speaking and respect”
The CDU Darmstadt has presented its election program and campaign for the local elections on March 15, 2026. Under the motto "Conviction, plain speaking and respect," the party states that it is focusing on reliability, pragmatism and a policy that people's everyday lives at the center.
According to the CDU, the election manifesto is the result of a multi-stage participatory process . This included listening tours, information events, public consultation hours , and a digital ideas portal Experts were also involved in several working groups . The final content was discussed and adopted at a party conference.
“ Taking a stand means taking responsibility. Speaking plainly means addressing problems openly. Respect means making policy for the people – not over their heads, ” explained the three leading candidates , Caroline Groß, Dr. Annette Brunert, and Hartwig Jourdan . The program shows “how Darmstadt should function – safely, dynamically, and economically strong .”
Key themes of the campaign
The campaign for the local elections is supported by four thematic posters that reflect the main points of the election program:
- Security and order – “We are taking back the city”
The CDU mentions, among other things, more presence of the city police , video surveillance at critical points , consistent cleanliness according to the broken windows principle and clear rules in public spaces . - Mobility Peace Instead of Street Conflict:
According to the CDU, the term "mobility peace" stands for equal access to all modes of transport . The goal is a transport policy with improved traffic flow , strong public transport , safe cycle paths , and freedom of choice in mobility . - Enabling housing – a home in every district
The CDU sees growth as an opportunity . Plans include more housing , faster procedures , and fewer obstacles to advance urban development. - Reliable
childcare is identified as a key concern. The party emphasizes flexible models , quality over promises , and good working conditions for childcare professionals .
CDU district chairman Paul Georg Wandrey declared: “ Darmstadt needs a centrist policy that unites and provides solutions. Our program stands for stability, cohesion, and a city that works for everyone .”
According to the party, the CDU Darmstadt is running with the aim of assuming responsibility and continuing its current course in key areas. The campaign also mentions the incumbent department heads André Schellenberg and Paul Georg Wandrey .
