The meeting of the Central Region in the Historic Town Hall provided important impetus.
As the city of Groß-Gerau reports, regional exchange of experiences for the Central Region 2025 took place in the historic town hall of the district capital . Representatives from the five participating municipalities – Groß-Gerau, Büttelborn, Mörfelden-Walldorf, Trebur and Nauheim – discussed current social developments and challenges.
Shared challenges, shared solutions
Jörg Rüddenklau, mayor of Groß-Gerau, welcomed the participants and drew a positive conclusion. He stated that it had become clear that all municipalities face similar conditions, particularly in the area of social development. Therefore, an intensive exchange of ideas had been especially valuable.
Rüddenklau emphasized the central role of preventative work current state of social development and addressed topics such as urban development, social planning, senior citizen services, and childcare . He noted that the tight budget situation hinders the implementation of positive developments, but these areas remain important municipal tasks for the future.
Social Data Monitor 2024 presented
During the meeting, the mayors and other participants – including Sabine Hoffmann , head of department II – were presented with the Social Data Monitor 2024 .
The report covers four topics:
- Population
- Employment and unemployment
- Social and transfer benefits
- Use of support services
The data serves as a basis for social structure assessments , forecasts , observations , and applications for third-party funding . The previous year's social data monitor is usually published in December .
The exchange of experiences thus provided important impetus for further social development work in the participating municipalities.
