New charging stations in Wallerstädten and Dornheim complement the existing network
The city of Groß-Gerau has announced that it is consistently expanding the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. New charging stations are now available in Wallerstädten at the "Auf dem Deich" parking lot, near the multi-purpose hall and sports field, as well as at the Geinsheimer Straße parking lot. Two new locations have also been set up in Dornheim: in front of the Riedhalle and in the parking lot at the Protestant church.
22 public charging points available in Groß-Gerau
With these new locations, the district town, together with its cooperation partners – most notably the Groß-Gerau regional utility company (ÜWG) – now operates 11 charging stations in public spaces. Since two vehicles can charge simultaneously at each station, a total of 22 public charging points are available.
Overview of existing locations
The existing locations in the city center include:
- Parking lot Schützenstraße (fast charging stations)
- Parking lot Frankfurter Straße
- Parking lot Market Square

High demand for existing charging points
Over 800 charging sessions were recorded at the market square alone last year, and more than 650 at the parking lot on Frankfurter Straße. In addition, there are other public and semi-public charging points in the city, for example at the district administration office "Auf Esch" or on company premises such as those of the Ried housing cooperative, the Lämmermann car dealership, or the regional utility company, which make their charging points available to employees and visitors.
Quote from the mayor
Mayor Jörg Rüddenklau emphasizes: “With the continuous expansion of the charging infrastructure, we are creating the conditions for environmentally friendly and future-oriented mobility in our city. In this way, we facilitate the switch to e-mobility and at the same time make a contribution to climate protection.”
