Low-threshold program for children aged 6 to 11 with creative activities and good supervision
As the municipality of Nauheim reports, the open children's center at the "X-Presso" regular, easily accessible recreational activities for children three afternoons a week. The center is located directly opposite the Nauheim train station and is open Mondays through Wednesdays from 3 pm to 5 pm. The center is primarily used by children between the ages of 6 and 11 – for playing, crafting, learning, or doing their homework.
Creative offerings and good networking
The team led by Gudrun Sattler from the Children, Youth and Intergenerational Support Services offers a wide range of creative and supportive activities. A special event takes place once a week, which is announced in advance. The collaboration with the Schwarzbach School and the Groß-Gerau Special Needs School works seamlessly: many children come to the center directly after their after-school program.
The children's and youth parliament (KiJuPa) and the community library are also regularly involved. Joint activities, such as a trip to Darmstadt for ice skating, strengthen the connection.
Flexible, free and relevant to everyday life
The service is available without registration and free of charge – a significant advantage for families. On average, around ten children attend the session, which is structured by fixed rituals such as a joint opening circle and tidying up.
The children's center focuses on knowledge transfer, physical activity, and role-playing. In addition to Gudrun Sattler, four paid staff members support the children, fostering their skills and strengthening their self-confidence.
Positive feedback and plans for 2026
The positive reception was also evident at the 2025 summer holiday program, in which 35 children participated under the motto "Our environment is so valuable." The reliable childcare program during the school term, as well as during the Easter and autumn holidays, is appreciated by many parents.
For the summer holidays of 2026, holiday activities are planned in cooperation with the athletics department of SKV Nauheim. Further joint activities are also planned with the Children and Youth Parliament (KiJuPa) – including a visit to the roller skating rink and a children's cinema in the community hall.
