Music by Bach meets the story of Noah in the Protestant church
What does a downpour or the animals' entry into the ark sound like on the organ? Children ages five and up and their accompanying adults can experience this on Sunday, September 28, at 3 p.m. in the Protestant church in Ober-Ramstadt. The children's organ concert "Noah's Ark" combines one of the most famous biblical stories with the music of Johann Sebastian Bach.
The approximately 45-minute concert will be presented by deanery cantor Caroline Raschke on the organ and her sister Christin Raschke as narrator. "Told in an exciting, witty, and captivating way," promises Caroline Raschke. Music and narrative intertwine – sometimes touching, sometimes humorous, always lively.
Music and narrative in harmony
Composer Johannes Matthias Michel has put the biblical story into modern language and interwoven it with works by Bach. The famous Toccata in D minor heralds the Flood, the Fantasia in G major accompanies the birds, and " Awake, the voice calls us " enters with the long-legged creatures. The result is a soundscape that will delight children and Bach lovers alike.
Admission is free, but donations are welcome. "We look forward to welcoming many listeners, young and old, to join us on a musical journey of discovery—right into the heart of Regen, the Ark, and the world of animals," says Caroline Raschke.
