Music by Bach meets the story of Noah in the Protestant church
What does a downpour or the animals' entry into the ark sound like on the organ? Children aged five and up, along with their accompanying adults, can experience this on Sunday, September 28th, at 3 p.m. in the Protestant church in Ober-Ramstadt. The children's organ concert "Noah's Ark" brings together one of the best-known biblical stories and the music of Johann Sebastian Bach.
The approximately 45-minute concert will be performed by Deanery Cantor Caroline Raschke at the organ and her sister Christin Raschke as narrator. "Exciting, witty, and captivatingly told," promises Caroline Raschke. Music and narration will intertwine – sometimes touching, sometimes humorous, always vibrant.
Music and narration in harmony
The composer Johannes Matthias Michel has reinterpreted the biblical story in a modern language and interwoven it with works by Bach. The famous Toccata in D minor heralds the flood, the Fantasia in G major accompanies the birds, and " Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme" (Awake, the voice is calling us ) enters with the long-legged creatures. The result is a soundscape that delights children and Bach enthusiasts alike.
Admission is free, donations are welcome. "We look forward to welcoming many listeners, both young and old, who will join us on a musical journey of discovery – right into the heart of rain, the Ark, and the world of animals," says Caroline Raschke.
