The Darmstadt Concert Choir presents Bach and Vivaldi to close out the year.
The Darmstadt Concert Choir announces that its traditional Christmas concerts will take place again this year on the fourth Sunday of Advent and on the second day of Christmas. For over 40 years, these performances in the Protestant City Church of Babenhausen and St. Paul's Church in Darmstadt have been among the region's most important musical events.
A top-class program featuring Bach and Vivaldi
This year's program features two important works of Christmas choral literature: Johann Sebastian Bach's "Magnificat" and Antonio Vivaldi's "Gloria," both in D major. These pieces are among the best-known and most festive compositions of the Baroque era, and their sonorous choral textures and virtuosic solo parts contribute to the Christmas atmosphere of the concerts.
With soloists and the Darmstadt Court Orchestra
The Darmstadt Concert Choir will be accompanied by renowned soloists and the Darmstadt Court Orchestra. The overall direction is in the hands of Wolfgang Seeliger, who has shaped the Christmas concerts for many years.
