Christmas tree erected in the market square – Darmstadt in pre-Christmas splendor

The large Christmas tree in Darmstadt's market square has been back in place since this morning. It took about two hours to safely erect the 20-meter-tall Nordmann fir from Olfen in the Odenwald region. The tree is between 40 and 50 years old, weighs between 3.6 and 3.8 tons – and can certainly hold its own against other major cities, even if Darmstadt prioritizes charm over record height.

For 20 years, the company Emig Agrar has been putting up the Christmas tree together with the Darmstadt fire department. Managing director Emig describes it each year as a challenge that they always manage well.
In the coming days, the Nordmann fir tree will be adorned with 13,500 LED lights, which will illuminate in an hourly animated sequence each evening. The exact date for the first switch-on is not yet known, but will be announced soon.

Emig Agrar wishes all residents of Darmstadt a merry and peaceful Christmas season.
And for those who are already looking forward to the next tree: On Thursday, November 6th, at 8 a.m., the Christmas tree on Luisenplatz will also be erected.
