Collection points are now clearly displayed on an online map for the first time
Darmstadt residents can their used Christmas trees Monday, January 12, 2026. The Darmstadt Municipal Services Department (EAD) will be collecting trees from the designated collection points until and including Friday, February 13, 2026. real Christmas trees will be collected ; artificial trees are not accepted.
For the first time, the storage locations are clearly displayed on an online map on the EAD website. The map can be accessed at

and is intended to make it easier to find your way around the city.
The Christmas trees must completely free of decorations , as they will be processed at the Darmstadt composting plant . Decorations such as tinsel or lead tinsel must not remain on the tree.
Alternative disposal options for Christmas trees
Lead tinsel can free of charge at the EAD recycling center at Sensfelderweg 33. Opening hours are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Furthermore, Christmas trees are free of charge at the Kranichstein composting facility (Eckhardwiesenstraße 25). Here too, the trees must completely free of decorations . The facility is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Additionally, the Vivarium Zoo Darmstadt again organic Christmas trees on Friday, January 9, 2026 , between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. your receipt to confirm the tree's origin .
