Film evening with Anke Engelke and Ulrich Tukur on February 4th
The local cinema at Hofgut Reinheim will be showing the feature film "Then Life Happens " on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. The film tells the story of a married couple in their mid-sixties whose well-established daily routine is disrupted – quietly, humorously, and with great sensitivity.
The story centers on Hans, a school principal nearing retirement, and his wife Rita. Their son has long since moved out, and their marriage follows a rigid routine. Only when they realize how little they know about their son's life does a palpable emptiness arise—and space for change. Then life happens.
Powerful acting and sensitive staging
Director Neele Leana Vollmar stages the story as a restrained, keenly observed drama about intimacy, distance, and new perspectives in later life. Anke Engelke and Ulrich Tukur deliver compelling, nuanced performances in the lead roles . Other roles are played by, among others, Lukas Rüppel, Maria Hofstätter, and Markus Hering.
The film is a German-Austrian production from 2025, has a running time of 120 minutes and is rated for ages six and up.
