Solar consultants expand their services to include building renovation
Several volunteer photovoltaic consultants from Riedstadt have completed further training at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences to become so-called citizen renovation guides. Mayor Marcus Kretschmann presented them with their certificates of participation at a meeting.
For the past two years, the citizen solar advisors in Riedstadt and the surrounding area have been supporting households with questions about photovoltaic systems. With their additional qualification, they will now also be able to provide advice on energy-efficient building renovations.
Training in the project “Climate-friendly Riedstadt”
The training took place within the framework of the "Climate-Friendly Riedstadt" project, funded by the state of Hesse. The course was linked to an existing course at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. Renovation manager Benjamin Krick, who also leads the university course as an honorary professor, is responsible for the project.
A total of 13 guest students participated in the training course, more than half of them from Riedstadt. Two employees of the city administration – from the environmental and construction departments – also completed the course.
Advice for citizens
With this expanded knowledge, citizens will in future be advised not only on photovoltaic systems, but also on energy-efficient building renovations. The university course is scheduled to be offered again starting in October.
