Sermon series “Building Bridges”, Vivaldi, live jazz and poetry slam in the city church
The Darmstadt City Church will present a diverse program in March 2026 under the umbrella of City Church Culture. Music, literature, jazz, and social discourse will shape the program of events. Concerts, readings, church services, and new formats invite cultural encounters and substantive engagement.
A key focus of the month is the sermon series "Building Bridges", which takes place every Sunday in March at 10 a.m.

External speakers from science, sports, medicine and social work address current social issues – including infrastructure, integration, mental health, social responsibility and care.

The series combines biblical texts with contemporary issues and is accompanied by music.
Concert highlights: Vivaldi, organ and benefit
The city church also makes a strong musical statement. The opening event is an organ matinee on March 7th at 11:30 a.m. featuring works by Johann Sebastian Bach and Olivier Messiaen, performed by cantor Christian Roß.
On March 8th at 6:00 pm, a Choral Evensong will follow with the youth choir of the Darmstadt Singing School.
Highlights include the guest concert “Vivaldi: The Four Seasons” on March 14th at 5:00 pm with the ensemble Chamber of Lights.
The month concludes on March 29th at 6:00 PM with a benefit concert featuring both a barrel organ and a church organ.
Live! Jazz, readings and poetry slam

The Live!Jazz series will bring international and national artists to the city church again in March:

julakim: The shimmering light in music - March, 7:30 p.m.
Peter Protschka Quartet: Kindred Spirits
Literary highlights will be provided on March 21st at 7:00 pm by a reading with Thorsten Schleif, who will read from his Richter crime novel.
A new format complements the program: On March 28th at 7:30 pm, a Poetry Slam Special with Tilmann Döring will take place for the first time in the city church.
The exhibition “Eco?_Logical! Preserving Creation” will also conclude with a finissage on March 16th at 7:00 pm.
The city church, through its "City Church Culture" program, sees itself as an open space for cultural diversity and social exchange. Many events are free of charge, while some concerts and readings require an admission fee.
