Innovative project “Transform-R” promotes sustainable urban development
On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, Darmstädter Straße in Groß-Gerau will be temporarily closed to allow for the delivery of new street furniture for the "Transform-R" project. According to the Groß-Gerau city press office, the district capital is one of three pilot municipalities participating in this initiative, which is organized by the FrankfurtRheinMain Regional Association and funded by the federal government.
Darmstädter Straße will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A parking and stopping ban from the beginning of March 4th in the affected area between the Darmstädter bakery (Darmstädter Straße 32) and the Frankfurter Straße intersection .
Which areas are affected?
🚧 Road closure:
- Darmstädter Straße will be closed from the intersection of Klein-Gerauer-Straße and Friedrichstraße .
- Access to Mittelstraße and Otto-Wels-Straße is not possible via Helwigstraße.
- Residents of Otto-Wels-Straße are still allowed to drive in the area.
🅿️ Parking areas:
- Six existing parking spaces and a loading zone in front of the Braun children's home will be retained.

Sustainable urban development in focus
The "Transform-R" project aims to create sustainable urban districts, promote energy and mobility transition initially limited to six months and is intended to test innovative usage concepts for the city.
