The University and State Library of TU Darmstadt in the Science Palace
From the roof to the basement, the guided tour of the University and State Library of TU Darmstadt in the Science Palace takes you on a journey through the building. The library is one of TU Darmstadt's most modern learning and knowledge spaces, houses diverse collections, and holds historical significance as a central location for research and teaching. Tradition and innovation inspire this tour through one of Darmstadt's most fascinating buildings.
The guided tour takes place on Friday, January 10th, and Friday, January 24th, at 4 pm and lasts 60 minutes. The meeting point is the entrance to the Royal Palace, at the large gate opposite the market square. Tickets cost €11.50 (€9.00 for concessions). Tickets are only available in advance.
Grand Duchess Mathilde – A Munich native in Darmstadt
As the namesake of Darmstadt's World Heritage Site, she is on everyone's lips. But who was this graceful Bavarian princess who, for the sake of Hereditary Grand Duke Ludwig (III), turned down the Emperor of Brazil and the King of Naples? The tour illuminates the Grand Duchess's life and work and leads from the Catholic Church of St. Ludwig in the city center to the Darmstadt Palace Museum in the Residenz Palace.
The guided tour takes place on Saturday, January 11th, at 3 pm and lasts 120 minutes. The meeting point is at the obelisk on Wilhelminenplatz. Tickets cost €14.50 (€11.00 for concessions). Tickets are only available in advance.
Forest Spiral – A Walk Around a Work of Art
A guided tour around Friedensreich Hundertwasser's "Forest Spiral," completed in 2000, including a look inside the ground-floor shop. The tour provides insight into Hundertwasser's concept of organic, human-centered living. The building's pioneering use of recycled concrete demonstrates that ecological construction is not incompatible with financially viable projects.

The Russian Chapel
The first building on the Mathildenhöhe is the Russian Chapel, built between 1897 and 1899. It was commissioned by the Russian Tsar and Tsarina Nicholas II and Alexandra, sister of Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig, and designed by the St. Petersburg court architect Leontij Nikolavic Benois. The tour provides insights into the building's history, architecture, and symbolism.
