The "Clean Riedstadt" campaign brings together numerous helpers
Many volunteers participated in the sixth annual "Clean Riedstadt" litter collection campaign. In several districts of Riedstadt, residents worked together to collect trash from nature. A particularly large number of children supported the effort.
While the cleanup took place in Crumstadt, Erfelden, and Leeheim on Saturday, February 28th, the event in Wolfskehlen was held on Sunday. The municipal works department subsequently collected numerous overflowing garbage bags and larger items in several trips. The Goddelau district did not participate in the cleanup this year.
The clean-up campaigns were organized by local clubs. The town of Riedstadt, associated with Büchner, provided items such as garbage bags and supported the initiatives with a budget for refreshments, which in many places was used for a communal get-together afterward.
Crumstadt: Less waste than last year
In Crumstadt, 19 people participated, including eight children and one teenager. According to the organizing TV Crumstadt, they collected around 400 liters of trash and about 100 liters of glass.
However, a discovery near the elementary school and daycare center caused concern: among other things, nitrous oxide cartridges were found there. On a positive note, significantly fewer dog waste bags were carelessly discarded.

Erfelden: Litter collected on the banks of the Old Rhine
In Erfelden, the TV Erfelden sports club organized the traditional spring cleaning. Around 30 volunteers cleaned up, in particular, the banks of the Old Rhine.
A whole tractor full of trash was brought to the collection point at the sports hall. Besides numerous glass bottles, a hubcap and various metal parts were also found. To conclude the cleanup, the participants enjoyed a hearty potato soup together.
Leeheim: Curious finds
In Leeheim, around 30 adults and children also fanned out. The cleanup, organized by FC Germania, focused on playgrounds, roadsides, and parking lots.
Besides glass, car tires, and other trash, a still-full camping toilet was also found. After the cleanup, the volunteers met in the courtyard of the local history society for a chat.
Wolfskehlen: Record number of participants in fundraising campaign
The Wolfskehlen traffic and beautification association reported a new record number of participants: 90 people, about half of them children, took part in the event.
They were supported by the "Rhine Cleanup" team, which helped with the cleanup in the industrial park. For the first time, playgrounds in the district were also cleaned. After the event, all participants gathered for a snack at the Wolfskehler barbecue hut.
Mayor Marcus Kretschmann thanked the volunteers for their commitment. Despite the fact that such initiatives are necessary, it is gratifying to see how many people are actively involved in their city.
