Science city presents results of the climate adaptation plan in the State Archives
The science city of Darmstadt will present its new climate adaptation plan on Tuesday, April 29 and invites all interested parties from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. to the final event in the Hessian State Archives on Karolinenplatz. In addition to the presentation of central results, guests can expect an extensive climate action market with information stands and practical tips.
"Visitors can expect a varied program with an impulse lecture, panel discussion and a market with numerous offers for climate adjustment," explains climate protection director Michael Kolmer. The focus of the new plan is on 20 central measures to adapt to the consequences of climate change. The focus is on topics such as sponge city principle, natural-based solutions, climate-adapted planning and building.
The basis for the plan is an extensive risk analysis that was carried out in cooperation with the German Weather Service and external specialist offices. Among other things, it shows where Hitze hotspots or flood risks exist in heavy rain in the urban area. Ideas from the population were also collected in six workshops, tested and partially taken over in the plan.
A highlight of the event is the climate action market with twelve information stands carried out for the first time. Visitors receive advice there for the promotion of city green, biodiversity, plant cubes, rainwater management and climate adequate building. Among them are the federal government, the EAD, the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, the Dahlem office and numerous urban offices.
