Artist talk, short videos and final guided tours with coffee and croissants on July 26th
Darmstadt. The exhibition at Galerie Netuschil, featuring works by Carolin Liebl, Nikolas Schmid-Pfähler, Oliver Czarnetta, Nele Waldert, and Gerd Winter, is drawing to a close – but before it does, the gallery is hosting one last special art and science event : On Saturday, July 26, 2025 , the artists will be present from 10:00 a.m. Visitors can enjoy coffee and croissants, chat with the artists, take part in final mini-tours , and learn more about the use of plastics in contemporary art.
Plastics: Between Innovation, Everyday Life and Artistic Expression
The current exhibition explores in diverse ways the complex relationship between plastic as a material , its significance for everyday life, technology, and sustainability , and its aesthetic and conceptual treatment in art. The material, co-developed by Otto Röhm in Darmstadt , has transformed everyday life worldwide – from technology to art. Plexiglas and other polymers have shaped our material environment ever since.
Successful artist interview with a scientific perspective
The recent artist talk with the artist duo Carolin Liebl & Nikolas Schmid-Pfähler and plastics engineering professor Dr. Martin Moneke from Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences attracted particular attention. For approximately two hours, the participants discussed materials research, molecular structures, aesthetic practice, and the societal relevance of plastics. The discussion was complemented by short videos on the artistic process and scientific insights from polymer research.
The artist duo Liebl & Schmid-Pfähler (born in 1989 and 1987) live and work in Offenbach and are known for interactive and material-related works in the border area of art, technology and perception.
Last day of the exhibition with talk and breakfast
The closing event offers an opportunity to talk to the artists personally once again – in a relaxed atmosphere with coffee, croissants and short tours through the exhibition.
